2015 has been over for more than a week now! Better late than never for a round-up of my favorites for the past year. :p I’m focusing on make-up since my skincare routine leaves more to be desired (*laughs nervously*). I feel that I need to take my time in testing out a skincare product so it takes a looooong time for me to give a verdict. Anyway, I’m working on it. 😀
Because this is a favorites post, I will only post my favorites (obviously!). I don’t have one for each category–for example, for cheeks, I don’t have a favorite product in 2015–so, yeah, just bear that in mind. 😀
(1) Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10/PA++ in Warm Vanilla (2) Maybelline Super Mineral Healthy Long-Lasting Foundation SPF 25 PA+++ in BO2 (3) The Face Shop 24HR Full Stay CC SPF 50 PA+++ in V203 Natural Beige (4) Laneige BB Cushion [Pore Control] SPF 50 PA+++ in No. 23 Sand Beige
Like I mentioned in my Weatherproof Make-up post, I have oily-combination skin. Recently, though, it’s becoming more of dehydrated-oily; my skin still produces sebum but it has been peeling a bit, especially the tip of my nose. 🙁 I may need an oil-free moisturizing serum, but I digress, we’re talking about make-up, haha!
Anyway, for face base, Estée Lauder Double Wear remains close to my heart. It’s my go-to base whenever I need something reliable. It’s a foundation will really adhere to my skin beautifully and not break apart in the face of extremely bad weather or even bad skin days. Right now, it’s my HG foundation and I am still in love with it.
For everyday zero-fuss foundations, Maybelline Super Mineral and The Face Shop 24HR Full Stay CC are my favorites last year. Other than that they’re both long-lasting, they also provide a decent amount of coverage.
For traveling or for when I’m in a hurry, this version of Laneige BB Cushion is my lifesaver. Pore Control version is for, well, pores. And oily skin. God knows how many times this baby has saved my late butt. I just go pat-pat-pat-pat-pat very quickly and base make-up is done, thanks to it’s great blendability. Decent amount of coverage but for my skin, the oil control kind of lacks. I have to blot and retouch in the middle and at the end of the day. No biggie though, because what’s important is that it looks nice even if my skin is already oily midday. :p
(1) Innisfree Eye Primer (2) Urban Decay Naked Palette (3) 1028 Visual Therapy Eyeshadow Kit in Macaron (4) Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in Black (5) 1028 Visual Therapy Eyeshadow Kit in Brownie Eyes
Looks familiar? It’s because all of them have appeared in my Weatherproof Make-up post. They all last a long time on my eyes, especially so with the help of the eye primer.
I know Etude House has their own eye primer and it’s good–I’ve used it countless times before. But the packaging is just asdfghjkl! It’s frustrating because I can’t get all of the product out of the tube and it just dries up so fast. Meejmuse mentioned in her 2014 Top Must-Have Korean Beauty Picks video how the Innisfree one is just as good, so I grabbed a tube when I went to Korea in April 2015. My only regret with it is that I should have gotten more! It’s tacky enough that it helps the eyeshadow stay put, but it also allows me to blend the eyeshadows easily and seamlessly. The eyeshadows look more vibrant as well. So far, its consistency in the tube is still in good condition. It’s so, so good, uuurghhh. Must hoard when I get back!
I don’t have it anymore with me and I haven’t repurchased it because it’s always sold out, but the Heroine Make Volume and Curl Mascara is my one true HG mascara. (The link shows the exact one that I owned–pink tube, black cap, and old-school anime/manga heroine character, of course!) It gives the most amaaaaazing volume and even length to my eyelashes. Best of all, it’s crazy waterproof and only 595 PHP. Please restock soon! ;o;
(Have you noticed a trend here? Long-lasting products are my priority in make-up, hehe.)
(1) Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bouquet Line in REB07 (2) Vaseline Lip Therapy Advanced Formula
Among all the lip products I own, I am only featuring these two, haha. Maybelline’s original Color Sensational line is still around, but my go-to 045 Pink Me Up in the said line has always been sold out. 🙁 So I gave up looking for it and asked Greenhills’ Watsons saleslady an alternate and she recommended me REB07 from the Rebel Bouquet line. It’s a slightly deeper but more vibrant pink than Pink Me Up but still muted enough to be classified as an MLBB (aka My Lips But Better) shade. It’s also just as opaque as the original line. But this one’s formulation surprised me because it’s different… and better! It keeps my lips from flaking or drying up, probably because of its tacky texture as the day goes on. It’s as if the tacky texture keeps my lips hydrated. It’s very comfortable on my lips, soooo, I’m kind of in love with it. Downside is that it transfers, though I don’t mind it as long as majority of the color stays on my lips.
(On a side-note: I pick the skin off my lips when I’m especially stressed/anxious–I know, it’s a bad habit. :c)
Vaseline Lip Therapy is my lips’ savior. I use this every night before I go to bed. In times when I need an especially hydrating lip balm, I would use this. In times when I have excessively peeled the skin off my lips causing bleeding, I would use this and it would heal the scab in two days (that is if I don’t pick on it again, lol). For some reason, when I was about to repurchase, I couldn’t find it in Watsons stores so… 🙁 Since it’s currently unavailable, I’ve gone back to using Nivea Med Protection. But really, I love both and use them interchangeably since they both hydrate and heal the lips well.
Soooo, that’s all for my 2015 make-up favorites! 2016 is the year I will take risks in my life (#adulting)… hmm, let’s see if these risks include make-up too. :p
